This year I am playing softball again and we will be playing double headers all season - Yikes!!! We had our first game last night, the game was really for the new umpire trainees, but we did good, even though we didn't keep score I am going to say that we won both!
I also signed up on a Kickball league, through a biblestudy called "Kairos" that I go to on Tuesday nights. Those games will be on Sunday afternoon and our first game is this Sunday. I'm looking forward to it, although I have not played kickball in a very long time, this will be interesting!

Gone are the days of Speed Racer!
Well after 18 years of driving fast and receiving a handful of speeding tickets (my parents are so proud), "Speed Racer" (that's me) - a self-proclaimed title, is calling it quits. I am going to turn in my lead feet and try a newer - yet slower model. Instead of driving in the fast lane, I'm going to give the slow lane, okay I don't know if I am completely moving to the "slow lane" but I will at least try a slower lane.
Now for those of you who were a fan of "Speed Racer," you are probably shocked and wondering what turn of events brought this on. Well...yesterday, I received my 2nd speeding ticket since moving to Tennessee, by "Ponch and John" (referencing "Chips") in a speed trap and since I received my 1st ticket just about 6 months ago, I started to evaluate my options.
**Side note: Dad, if you are reading this "yes, apparently I do like throwing away my money on tickets." :-)
Not being really excited about possibly having to use the Metro Bus system if I didn't stop speeding, was really the big motivator as well as my insurance already being high enough, was another. So I will now be dipping into the "I would like to pay off my car and buy a house" fund.
Last night I had a "Come to Jesus" meeting with myself and decided to change my ways.(For those of you that have never heard of a "Come to Jesus" meeting. From what I understand, it is a saying that parents use when they are going to be having a "discussion" with a naughty child, and showing them the error of their ways! I love that phrase!)
This morning on my way to work, I did pretty good with my speed, but it was hard to see "the pack" flying past me and knowing that I wasn't going to be part of it anymore. It does make me a little sad because I did get a little thrill out of it, especially on trips back to Wisconsin, trying to break my previous record. Maybe God will forgive me if I slip into "Speed Racer" only when I'm driving through Illinois, surely he knows how painfully long that drive is!!!!! (Sorry Tonya, you had to have known there was going to be a comment made about Illinois!)
All kidding aside, my friend Tauna brought up a really good point when were talking last night. She said that maybe by driving was more of a "stumbling block" with my relationship with God instead of a "stepping stone". Because everytime that I was speeding, I was sinning against God (by breaking the law) and separating myself farther from God. I really thought about that and I would agree with her, even though I have given God alot of control over my life, I haven't given him control over everything. I guess I didn't think my driving was something that I needed control over, but I was wrong!
So whenever you are thinking about me, if you would please pray for me in this area, I would really appreciate it.
